South High School is Waukesha’s oldest high school, long known for its outstanding educational programming. When South High School opened its doors December 2, 1957, it was known as Waukesha High School’s South Campus. TIMELINE:
- 1957-1958 school year was the opening of South Campus

- November 27, 1957 (Wednesday) - Moving Day
- Juniors and Seniors move up to the South Campus - they took additional books and materials with them on school buses to facilitate the move.
- Much of the building was still unfinished. The auditorium, cafeteria, library, recreational areas and some classrooms were incomplete.
- Agriculture was taught in the current graphics and auto classrooms 24 & 25.
- December 2, 1957 - Classes Begin at South Campus

- February 14, 1958 - First Event held in the newly completed field house (seats 3,000) boys basketball game with Whitefish Bay.
- March 1, 1958 - First Performance given in the newly completed auditorium musical - "Naughty Marietta"
- March 28, 1958 - Cornerstone & Flag Raising
- March 29, 1958 - Formal Dedication
- March 30, 1958 - Open House
- June 13, 1958 - First class graduates from South Campus High School - Commencement held at Horeb Park.
- February 9, 1959 - South Campus Principal, Mr. Clyde Shields Dies of a heart attack while attending a national convention where he was preparing to give a presentation.
- Fall 1959 - Spring 1975 - Mr. Cliff Goerke is the new principal of South Campus
- Winter 1975 - Waukesha North High School opens as a 9th through 12th grade campus easing South's overcrowding.
- Spring of 1979 - Bob Duckette Principal of South and Central Campus.
- Spring of 1988 - Mr. Dick Arnold was the principal of South Campus.
- Fall of 1979 - Driver's Education Classroom, Science Wing (rooms 10A through 10E) and the Auto Shop (room 26) opened. This was also the year that the Sophomores were added to South.
- Fall of 1983 - Library Expansion opened.
- Spring of 2000 - Mr. Bob Gruell principal of Waukesha South High School.
- Fall of 1993 - West High School Opens and Freshmen come to South.
- Fall of 2000 - Hansen Principal of South
Coaches Wall of Fame
Eligibility for Membership: Membership is open to coaches, who must have participated with distinction and / or made significant contributions to athletes at Waukesha South High School, as evidenced, for example, by the success of their teams and acknowledgement of their former student / athletes. Coaches shall be eligible for membership beginning five years after they have left Waukesha South High School or in special circumstances as determined by the Coaches Wall of Fame Committee.
Nomination Process: A candidate may be nominated for the Coaches Wall of Fame membership by any member of the community. Formal nomination shall be made using the official nomination packet. Nomination packets are available by contracting the athletic department or on the Waukesha South web page. Information relating to a nominee’s record and achievements must be supported by accompanying documentation or sources cited so that the information may be verified independently. All nomination packets must be received by the athletic department by August 1st of the current year, in order to be considered for induction into the next year’s class.
Once presented as an eligible nominee, a candidate who is elected shall automatically be reconsidered annually.
Coaches Wall of Fame Policies:- 1. There will be a maximum limit of two inductees per year.
- 2. Inductees shall not have been convicted of a felony. If discovery of such felony should occur after induction, or while in the Wall of Fame, that person shall be removed from the Coaches Wall of Fame.
- 3. Two uniform plaques shall be awarded to honor each individual inductee. One plaque shall be presented to the inductee; the other plaque shall be placed on the display at Waukesha South High School.
- 4. Head and Assistant Coaches can be nominated.

Work Permits
Child Labor Law Updates:
2017 Wisconsin Act 11 was signed by Governor Walker and published June 22, 2017. The effective date of this law is June 23, 2017. The law removes the requirement that 16- and 17-year-old minors obtain work permits. This law also changes the terminology and refers to the "employment of minors" instead of child labor.
Work permits may be obtained in the Student Services Office from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. or by clicking here. Please turn in your work permit material to Mrs. Blackburn, or Mrs. Bohan. Please contact Mrs. Bohan with any questions at or .
Official Transcripts
Directions for how to order can be found here!. Anyone who has graduated in 1993 to current can use Parchment for a $3.75 fee. If you graduated before 1993, you need to mail your request to Waukesha South HS along with $5.00 or stop in the Student Services Office between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with the $5.00 fee.

Important events for the Class of 2018:
•Senior Scholarship Night - Wednesday, May 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. The night will consist of honoring seniors who are receiving scholarships from various institutions or organizations. See Mrs. Bohan in Student Services for a Scholarship Information Form (this form is mandatory to be filled out to receive an invitation in May).
